Airport Information

(Sydney, NSW, Australia)

Serving the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW), Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) lies within the city's Mascot area on the northern coast of Botany Bay, next to Brighton-Le-Sands and Foreshore Road. Just 9 km / 6 miles south of central Sydney, the Kingsford Smith Airport is currently the country's most busy and significant commercial airport and provides over 60,000 jobs.

Each year, Sydney Airport generates around AU$6.5 billion of revenue and 29 million passengers, spilt at around 10 million international and 19 million domestic. The airport's three terminal buildings (International, Multi-User Domestic and Qantas) feature 200 check-in desks and can see over 60 aircraft and almost 20,000 passengers in just one hour. In recent years, Sydney Airport has been awarded a top-ten position at the prestigious, worldwide Skytrax Airport of the Year Awards.

Sydney Airport features a range of ground transport, including many favourite car hire companies, covered taxi ranks complete with supervisors outside of each terminal, and complimentary shuttle buses for guests staying at nearby hotels. Various public buses connect both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, travelling to many suburbs of Sydney and between Burwood and the Bondi Junction. Those who prefer to travel on trains will find two separate rail stations, running every 10 minutes and connecting Sydney's City Circle area in around 12 minutes. The Kingsford Smith Airport remains busy throughout the year and those flying into Australia are strongly advised to consider first investing in at least single trip travel insurance or similar, allowing you enjoy a little peace of mind during your vacation and safeguard against any potential travel problems.
