Sydney Airport (SYD)
Travel and Ground Transport

(Sydney, NSW, Australia)

South of the city, Sydney Airport (SYD) lays on all of the modern ground transportation choices that you would expect to find. The transport infrastructure is capable of handling many thousands of arriving and departing passengers every single day, with taxis, buses, shuttles, trains, limos and rental cars.

Serving Sydney and New South Wales, passengers will also be able to reach many of the city's appealing suburbs and outlying destinations, such as Botany Bay, Cabramatta, Campsie, Crows Nest, Drummoyne, Greenacre, Moorebank, North Ryde, North Ryde, Sutherland and Willoughby, amongst others.

Trains

Sydney Airport is connected to Sydney by a speedy train service, which travels into the heart of the city in just 13 minutes and links to the City Circle. There are two train stations, one situated under the International Terminal 1 and the other beneath Domestic Terminals 2 and 3. Directions to these stations are clearly signposted.

Buses

Public transport is provided by Sydney Buses, with route 400 running between Burwood and Bondi Junction, and providing a cheap way to reach the Central Station, Kings Cross, Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay. The buses are gold and green, and so easy to spot.

Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses are operated by Kingsford Smith Transport and Sydney Airporter. These shuttles travel to many of the hotels in central Sydney, as well as the Kings Cross and Harbour areas of Sydney. There are also other shuttle buses services that travel further afield, although these generally need to be booked in advance.

Hotel Shuttle

Courtesy shuttles for hotel guest mean that you can reach the door of your hotel either completely free of charge or for just a nominal fee. Participating hotels include the Holiday Inn on Bourke Street, the Ibis on O'Riordan Street and the Mercure on Levey Street.

Taxi Cabs

Taxis reside outside the terminal buildings, in the designated rank areas. The journey from Sydney Airport into the city lasts just 25 minutes. Cronulla, Liverpool, Manly, North Sydney and Parramatta are all popular destinations, with suggested fares. Of note, an airport toll is payable, as well as any relevant road or bridge tolls encountered en route. Choose between Legion Cabs, Premier Cabs, RSL Ex-Servicesmen's Co-Op, Silver Service Fleet, St. George Cabs and Taxis Combined Services.

Limousines

It is usually necessary to prearrange all limo service at SYD Airport. However, if you have just flown in and are in need of a limousine, then head to the arrivals area of International Terminal 1 and Domestic Terminal 2, where the Royale Limousines desks may well be able to assist you in finding a chauffeur-driven car.
